  • EcuTek

    Requirements:
    EcuTek license
    EcuTek Bluetooth Vehicle Interface or EcuTek ProECU cable
    ECU Connect app if using phone flashing or mobile logging
    PhoneFlash enabled if flashing through the phone
    RaceROM features enabled when applicable
    ECU unlock completed if required
    Ability to send vehicle info and data logs through ECU Connect
  • MHD/MHD+

    Requirements:
    MHD app
    MHD flash license
    MHD compatible adapter
    ECU unlock completed if required
    MHD+ features if using advanced options such as flex fuel, map switching, or custom logic
    Compatible flex fuel hardware if using flex fuel
    Ability to flash, log, and send logs from the MHD app
  • BootMod3

    Requirements:
    bootmod3 license
    bootmod3 account
    bootmod3 WiFi adapter or ENET cable
    OBD Agent / bootmod3 app access
    ECU unlock completed if required
    CustomROM / MultiMap support if using advanced features
    Compatible flex fuel hardware if using flex fuel
    Ability to flash, log, and send logs through bootmod3

Many newer Toyota Supra and BMW ECUs require an unlock before they can be tuned.Unlock requirements depend on the DME/ECU production date, vehicle software version, dealer updates, and the tuning platform being used. Model year alone is not always enough to confirm what your car needs.

The tune price does not automatically include ECU unlock services, tuning platform licenses, flash points, adapters, cables, or hardware unless specifically stated in the product options.

Dealer software updates can change unlock requirements. A car that may have been OBD flashable before can become locked after a dealer update.

Common Unlock Types

OBD Unlock
Unlocked through the OBD port when supported by the vehicle, software version, and tuning platform.

Bench Unlock
The ECU/DME must be accessed directly and unlocked with bench tools before OBD flashing can work.

FEMTO / Full DME Unlock
Required on many newer BMW and Supra DMEs, especially 06/2020+ ECU production dates. This is commonly needed before EcuTek, MHD, or bootmod3 flash tuning can be used.

G80/G82 M3/M4 and Newer S58 Models

Most newer S58 vehicles commonly require FEMTO/full unlock before flash tuning.

Pre-06/2020 DME / ECU

Most B58 and S58 ECUs produced before June 2020 usually require either OBD unlock or bench unlock depending on the platform and software version.

06/2020+ DME / ECU

Most Supra, B58, and S58 ECUs produced June 2020 or newer usually require a FEMTO/full DME unlock before flash tuning can be completed.

2021+ A91 Supra / Newer B58 Models

Most 2021+ Supra and newer BMW B58 vehicles are commonly locked and usually require a FEMTO/full unlock before flash tuning.

  • Single Fuel Tune

    For one fixed fuel type.

    Common single fuel options include:

    91 octane
    93 octane
    E30
    E50
    E85

    This is best for customers who plan to run one specific fuel type and do not need automatic fuel blending.

  • Flex Fuel Tune

    For vehicles equipped with a compatible flex fuel setup.

    Flex fuel allows the tune to adjust based on ethanol content when the proper hardware, software, and calibration support are in place.

    Flex fuel requirements vary depending on whether you are using EcuTek, MHD, or bootmod3. Do not select flex fuel unless your vehicle has the correct flex fuel hardware and platform support.

How The Process Works

  1. Order the tune and complete the setup form.
  2. Select your tuning platform, vehicle, fuel type, and modifications.
  3. Confirm your ECU unlock and tuning hardware requirements.
  4. Receive the base map or platform-specific tuning instructions.
  5. Flash the file using the correct tuning method.
  6. Complete the requested data logs.
  7. Send logs back for review.
  8. Receive revisions until the tune is finalized.

The process continues until the vehicle is properly dialed in.

Turnaround Time

Base map turnaround depends on current tuning volume and customer response time.

Customers who submit complete information and usable logs usually move through the process faster.

Most tunes require multiple revisions. The exact number depends on the setup, fuel quality, turbo, fuel system, tuning platform, and how the vehicle responds.

A Transparent Note

While AMBOT Tuned is best known for Subaru tuning, I do have experience working with the A90 Supra, BMW B58, and BMW S58 platforms.

That said, I want to be transparent. If you have a high-horsepower build, full race setup, or a very complex combination, I may recommend working with a specialist who is already heavily established in the BMW/Supra market.

For normal bolt-on setups, upgraded turbo setups, ethanol blends, and customers who want careful tuning, strong communication, and fast revisions, I am confident I can help.
